Yes
My D300 suffered a major failure on Christmas Day and I have been bracing myself for a costly repair - replacement of the shutter mechanism :'(

I got an email from Nikon yesterday saying the camera was ready and would I please arrange payment so they could return it to me. With some trepidation I opened the invoice attached to the email and nearly fainted with shock at the amount I owed ... £6.08 :gag:

Cost of repair - zero (goodwill gesture)
cost of return postage - £6.08

Good on ya Nikon   :D

What a rip off!

Good(will) on Nikon!

Impressive service. What was the reason for the good will out of interest? Abnormally short life?

Now steady on Gramps ... I've not been thought of as a "lad" for a good few years (and never a ladette!)

The reason given for the goodwill gesture was the abnormally short lifespan of the shutter (less than 12,300 actuations).

Mind you, it still hasn't arrived back home yet :'(

Chances are it'll arrive tomorrow and my back-up body will arrive back from Australia early on Saturday morning ... and I turned down a paying job this weekend - d'oh :bang:

Sweet! My new shutter just cost me 400 quid. But they didn't charge me return postage ;)

I have found their support service to be excellent , I had a problem with my d5100, they fixed it and returned it free of charge within 10 days.
Customer service is so important and non existent in many companies these days, whilst Nikon provide this level of service I will always buy Nikon.

Just to prove the old saying that every silver lining has a dark cloud Nikon have sent it back via City Link :gag:

According to their website they tried to deliver it this morning whilst I was out but failed to leave a card (like they said they had). So now I'm going to have to collect it myself this evening - thankfully their depot is only just around the corner from me. Fingers crossed :D

WooHoo!!

D300 is back where it belongs - no drama at City Link - and working beautifully

My depot is 40 miles away and I often have to collect, things myself, they are the worst delivery service on the planet.

Yeah, too true Graham. I was dreading the bill but now I'll be able to advertise it as having a new shutter with VERY LOW count when I sell it in a few months time :D

WELL DONE NIKON !! This is one of the reasons I buy NIKON too -
