Nikon SB-400 query

I don't actually use flash much myself, but someone has asked me if the SB-400 can be used 'off' camera either with a sync cord or a trigger of some sort.
Can anybody help?

According to Nikon, no it cannot be used wirelessly via CLS.

I've not used one - so I don't know if there is a way to control it's output manually, so it may not even be possible to use it via an external trigger mechanism...

Sync cord would work.

The flash can be used off camera as long as it is attached to the camera via a flash cord / Sync cable.
