nikon sb800 seems to be bracketing

it seems to flash at full then at reduced power, i am still getting used to the camera
if anyone can point me in the right direction , i would be greatful
it maybe slow to recharge ready for the next flash
the flash is set to master

You can do a complete factory reset on it but I don't have the manual to hand......
 
Got it from goooogle:


Press the Mode and On/off buttons simultaneously for approx. 2 sec. to reset all settings, including the custom settings (except the distance unit selected in m/ft) to their default values.
 
You can do this with the camera too but it might not reset things like second curtain settings etc.
 
I know that when you shoot rapid-fire you do get the odd discrepancy in power outage, which results in a slight difference in flash exposure.

A reset will remedy any flash probs, although you might want to make sure the camera isn't set to some crazy bracketing mode.
