No air needed.

Cracking idea. first thing I though of was, how many lives are lost from crashes caused by blown tyres? I imagin this figure will fall if puncturing the tyre is no longer possible.

I had an email from a friend at Michelin last summer about these, they really have done it. They had an Audi A4 hoofing round a track on them

I'll see if I still have the images on my work pc :)

What happens when the treads wear down? replace the entire wheel?

and how do you change the tyre 'pressure' when you have heavy loads or are going off-road

Why would you need to?
As there is no pressurised air inside, the effects of load change, temp increase etc are eliminated. Ride quality would be the same at low speed as it would at high speeds due to the make up of the spokes and vehicle suspension.

It's aimed at the car market, so off road isn't really on the agenda :D

Pretty soon all the off road cars will be taxed off the planet anyway
