Non-AF-S Nikon Lenses

Yes
I have a D60 and am thinking about picking up an 18-70, 70-300, and 35 F1.8, all AF-S obviously because my camera has no built-in motor.

I figured out the cheapest price I can get for all of these is around £800.

I am just wondering, if I switch to a D90 (which is very possible), which equivalent non AF-S lenses would be the ones to go for to get similar range and quality? Can I save money by buying AF lenses?

Or should I still stick with those original 3 lenses even with a D90?

Thanks!

Assuming you are talking Nikkor lenses, only non AF-S lens amongst those listed is the 35 F2 AF-D, which is in fact more expensive than the 35 F1.8. There is a cheap 70-300mm AF-G but it is meant to be quite poor.

Failing the D90 maybe look at the 3rd party alternatives to them lenses such as sigma and tamron. I know both make a 70 - 300.

Yeah, looking at the list of Nikon's own lenses, those three really do seem to be winners. I'm not convinced by Tamron and Sigma's offerings just yet so maybe I will stick with my original plan.

Has the added advantage that I can lend them fully-functional to my mate with a D3000.

Cheers, guys.
