Another from last week. I've never known such an obliging redshank - at times it was too big in the frame. This is totally uncropped.

EOS-1Ds MkII, EF 500mm f/4L IS, 1.4x extender, Skimmer ground pod, Acratech Long Lens Head

Thanks for looking.

Wow

That is superb Paul, worth the effort.

Thanks Martyn. I am pretty chuffed with this I have to say. I've got some others that may yet get posted too...

Admiring itself...
Great shot were you lying in the water?

Thanks Luke. Not quite in the water but on the edge of the pool lying down on gravel with the lens about 5 inches above the water. Was there for about 4 hours so got a touch stiff after a while!

very nice mate ...I can't get within 100yds of these...mark
Thanks Mark - I know, I couldn't believe it myself, this one was so relaxed...

A cracking shot Paul :)
Thanks Phil.

Brilliant - wonderful colours, composition, everything.

Well done mate.

Great shot Paul, I find they will come close as long as you are low to the ground which in this case you must be as its eye level!

But I can never get them the right side of the sun or with a clean background / water like you have done.

Beautiful photograph and a bit stiff - what a lucky boy :)

Thanks all.

Liam - yes I was lying low. The first day the light wasn't as good and the wind was up so the water was rough but the second day made the time spent worthwhile!
