Yes
Today I dropped into our friendly Jessops store.

Not to buy anything but I'm thinking of getting a 5D Mk II later in the year when finance permits.

So I dropped into Jessops to have a hands on feel of the camera just to make sure it felt comfortable.

OMG! - it was BRILLIANT!

Just a few minutes handling was a revelation - it felt so GOOD!

And looking through the viewfinder - I'd forgotten what FF was like - suddenly 28mm was WIDE - and the viewfinder so crisp and clear!

Now I know what people mean about the wonderful feel of the camera.

I've got to have one!

Better not try a 1d MkIV then :)
or an L lens

(go on, you know you want to.)

Get thee behind me Satan - LOL - I just couldn't afford the 1D MKIV.

I've just bought a Canon 100mm Macro on here and a few days ago bought a Canon 1.4 Extender - so I'm already upgrading my lenses etc in preparation for a change - and, yes, the 70 - 200 f4 IS USM L glass is on my list - which is why I bought the Extender - but that will probably have to wait until after I've got the 5D.

Good for you. Now do the honourable thing and order it from Jessops rather than the internet!

Stuart

I'm going to since I will still have to have finance on a part of the purchase.

Plus they do a 3 year extended warranty for about £140 - which I think is great deal - especially as it covers accidental damage etc.

100macro is a nice lens, needs to be complimented with an 85 and a 50 though :)
Did you get the Is version or the poor man's one (namely the one I have)

I'd get the 5d now, something else will be out later, for more money and then you'll want that instead.

The 5D (mk2) is very nice but I dont want video so cant see the reason for paying for it, but its a good body size for a FF camera. You culd well have a different view of course.
I've just bought a 2nd hand 70/210 f3.5/4.5 which is pretty near f4 L image quality, could be a good stopgap/tester allowing you to purchaase the 5D now.
E-bay could be your friend..........................

No, the 100mm is the non IS one - I also have the EF 28-135mm IS USM, the 70-300mm IS USM and the "Nifty Fifty."

But I'm looking to get the 5D in late summer or autumn when finance permits - or I may have a word with the bank manager before then.

And I'm going to wait to get the L glass because I want IS and I'll wait until I can get the one I want rather than a stop gap.

Well I'm not particularly interested in Video but it's on the camera so I'm stuck with it, and as for Ebay - frankly I'd rather buy S/H on here because then I know the gear is being sold by photographers who care about their gear - also I've bought a number of items on here over the last year or so and they've all been in excellent condition - and I've saved about £1000 or so over new prices!

Nice set of lenses.
Good call on the L glass
5D is a nice bit of kit, I would have bought one at Parks had they got a new one in stock, bought a 50D instead (not a good move).
Hope it comes off for you.
