NXCAM NX5 settings please

I have just bought my first video cam as we are spending more time in Snowdonia and I want some decent videos of the fast jets, does anyone have any recommended setting that will work in varying conditions or am I best sticking to full auto till I get used to it, also I have read that you can still use the anti shake function whilst these are on a tripod, is this true or do I need to adjust the anti shake setting.

When I used to film with Sony cameras I turned off the image stablisation when it was on a tripod, as the tripod is your image stabaliser.

As for settings, well suggest you go to Youtube for some videos but I prefer not to use auto on anything, except sometimes the focusing, then I do use Canon which has the best focusing of any camera IMHO.
