It caught me by surprise coming from the wrong part of the reeds & a tadge too close to the hide, well that’s my excuse for clipping the wings from 6 out of the 8 shots. Might have helped had I remembered I was using a zoom lens & zoomed out, :bonk: oh well. The other shot that was plump centre, unclipped and virtually filled the frame unfortunately looked like a headless bittern as its near side wing totally obscured its head. Anyway, after about 30 mins it must have got totally fed up hearing all the moaning coming from the hide as I reviewed all the duffers; and rather obligingly climbed towards the top of reeds and stuck it’s head out to make sure I was ready for another fly-by.
