Took these couple of shots as a fly landed on my chimney. it actually sat still for a bit, usually they fly off just before i press the shutter!

any comments on how i can improve grately appreciated.
 
Not really qualified to crit, but what I have picked up on is that, as in almost all aspects of photography, location and background can make or break a picture. Now with these wee fellas you dont always have a choice. To me the fly in No.1 is good, but the angle of the shot in 2 is better, and the background is a bit blandish in both, reflections good. As always very subjective and someone else will probably have other ideas. Most of my early ones are long gone in the bin but its suprising with persistence how quickly everything improves, look forward to more.

Fly looks nice and sharp and the exposure is spot on too, as Dave says just the surroundings is all that is needed to improve the shot.

I agree with the above...........and I like the reflections as well(y)
