... a beast has arrived that is a 1D Mk II... I think I've gone to heaven!! :runaway:

Having read all the advice on many a thread over the last few years, I went for a bit of decent glass first. The time finally came to upgrade the bod. From a 400D do you think I'm going to notice the difference???:whistling:

Can't wait to go and play, I'm so excited... I could be gone some time LOL

Good grief 400D to a 1D MkII I hope you do notice the difference!! Have a great time with it. Enjoy

Paul

I have a 1D mkII that goes in the car most days as my backup to a 5D. I know it's backwards but mostly I shoot things that don't move, indoors, on a tripod and need a wide lens, so the 5 is perfect.

The other day though I had to use two bodies for a walkabout job and fell in love with the antique brick all over again. It's such a great camera even against all the upgrades that have come out since. It has everything you could need and no nonsense that you don't.

Hope you're enjoying it.

Thanks guys.... I've been sussing out the new cockpit tonight.

and really good value second hand.

Yes.. you'll either have arms like popeye by the end of the week or they'll be in slings

LOL... well one arm has had some practice  Just need to work on the other now!

I'm sure you'll love it.

Try photographing a random bird flying over your garden and the difference in AF compared to your 400 will be clear.

I have both 5D and 1Dmk2 (too) and I think your 2nd paragraph brilliantly summates the abilities of the 1D - nice one.

I went from a 50D to a 1DIIn and the performance still doesn't cease to amaze me.

Now looking to upgrade again purely for the High ISO performance - I'm spoilt with amazing noise handling on the 5DII and the 1DIIn simply doesn't cut the mustard any more compared to the III and IV. Maybe next year I'll be able to justify a IV.
