on the lookout for a d-slr

Hi All

I'm still fairly new to photograpghy. well, new to slr's

I have been doing photography over 2 years now on and off and have owned a d40.

That broke so I went for a cheap fix getting a p90 coolpix which has done everything I needed at the time. however, In the last few months I have been doing club photography and need something better. I Have filters, and my flash gun works fine with the p90 but I need another slr.

Been looking at d300, d60, d40x etc...anyone got any suggestions?

Ideally the budget is £400 but maybe could stretch a tiny bit more
 
Yeah unfortunately i need a lens aswel which even i know is asking a lot. I've found a nice 1100d a mate is selling with two lenses for just over £300. very tempted with that, but having two nikons im wondering if its the right move in the long run

I have an 1100d as my take everywhere 'compact' camera, its surprised me how good it is....

you can get a D90 for £300 which gives you £100 for a lens..

what are the lenses with the 1100d? you can get one with mk3 kit lens brand new for £302 now.
 
Only just remembered about this post. I bought a nikon d60 in the end. came with 18-55, 18-135 and a tamron 70-300. sol;d the tamron the other day for £53 to cex like an idiot :(

got a 50mm f1/8 coming tomorrow which should be good

also bought an sb 600 and an sb 23, aswell as a ttl cord and batteries etc.
 
Is that the Nikkor 50mm? If so, it's a lovely lens. I've taken some photos with it that I'm really pleased with.
