Hallo!

For some time I've been looking around for a new body. I was looking at a second hand D200 or D300, but the only reason really is so I've got an AF body, rather relying on motorised lenses. Does the D80 have an AF motor built in? And what's it like at high ISO? And finally, what are your general opinions on the D80?

Yep built in motor.
High ISO performance is a bit 3rd class these days, my mates D60 is better at ISO1600, but no AF motor.
It's a great camera, 2 command dials and a function button come in handy, 35k clicks on mine, looks and feels like new.

That's good to know...might save me a bit of cash

So much for saving a few bob...there's only around £50 in it between a used D80 and a used D200 from LCE!

The D80/D200 is like the D90/D300 - the consumer versions came out later and so have some upgrades over the prosumer versions, but in the D80's case it still has pretty poor high iso performance and a distinctly plasticky feel compared to a D200....

The D200 will definitely have a better build but I seem to remember reading that in terms of noise there was little difference between the two and if anything the D80 slightly edged it.
