opinions on auto macro rings please

As title suggests. Are they any good and can you use them out and about shooting free hand? Thanks

Nice one thanks mate thanks for the reply, how much did you pay for them? Found some Polaroid ones on amazon for about £60
 
I have a set of kenko auto macro rrings that I use with my d300 and they work well with 105/ 2.8
Just bear in mind that if you are going to use all 3 and want to keep a reasonable DoF you are going to need an light source such as a ring flash

I have a set of polaroid ones.
Although I did manage to use them successfully hand held last year I tend to use mine with a tripod now that I have one, it's less hit and miss that way.
 
Id probably go with a teleconverter first, but depends on the price difference though.

Why?

I have the kenko tubes and they are excellent. I look at others and thought they were worth the extra. I gave since seen the Polaroid one and they seem excellent value for money
