Opinions on website...

I agree that the simplicity is good, although the "About" page is probably a bit too simple, maybe add a self portrait, or even move the text to the bottom of the home page?

I like how on some of the galleries the box is full of images, it doesn't look quite as good when there are gaps.

If you have got plenty of news to keep adding to the site, go for a blog/news page, but if you won't be updating it a lot it may look old very quickly.

Xarra - Nice simple design. I would be inclined to make the panels a little closer unless you intend to add more of them?

The LARP part - I didn't really like the fact I clicked, then waited for a mo before I realised I had to click again, then the page just kept loading with images - too many to appreciate to be honest. Pick you best and highlight them, put the others available on Flickr or Picasa perhaps.

Its your website so is third person the best approach? If you were selling a brand then perhaps.

Time-for-CD/Print sessions??? you dont explain anywhere what this is.

About: its a little light on info, bit more history perhaps, you vision and more about your book! Oh and a photo of you would make it stronger too.

Blog: these are very popular but again it depends on time, content and design, it needs time devoted to it and interesting content for people to read and be interested in.

In general it works but consider showing your strongest shots rather than going for filler content. You have some great images - let them speak for you ;)

The reason for all the LARP photos is that, as I try to explain on the LARP page, at the large events I need to show the players all the decent photos - there's a lot of happy people when they see they've been caught on camera! There will be more events up in the future!

I may well put the best up and then link to the rest on Flickr, but I quite like the fact they look self contained...

I'll try to explain more on the About and so on. :)

Thanks for the comments so far!

Xarra - Your 'about' page is much better and a nice introduction to you and where you are right now. I also like the fact you removed the third person speak ;)

As for the LARP folder, perhaps the second page designed like the first if you intend to have more events rather than a link?
The photos in there are very good and some wonderful make up and costumes - but I do feel that nearly 240 photos is a bit much to look through (personally)

Again though its your site - if you want it as a portfolio then the best of the best is needed, but if you want it more as exhibition for general viewing then thats ok too.
Have a clear idea of what you want your site to do for you, is what im
trying to say.
Im not expert so please dont be upset with any of my comments; advice and shoulder is all I can offer ;)

Hmmm, I suppose I could do a LARP page with the 'best' shots and then links to the main sets? LARPers enjoy trawling through all the photos (I think) looking for that elusive shot of themselves - but I understand that to a non-LARPer it's a bit overwhelming!

As has already been said fairly simple, but not a bad design, what i do really like is how quick the photos show up when clicked on, on some sites i've looked at they take age's which makes me give up and close it down :)

IMO much better - gives the viewer a taste without bombarding them with images and allows them to also explore further if they so wish - perfect medium ;)

TG is right too - the photos do load fast, and I too wait about 5 secs then get impatient and leave
Remember, the website is like windows shopping, only if the content is appealing will you go inside.

You have done a great job with this site and should be happy ;)
