Finally, the opening race meeting of the season is here, and, typically, it was bloody freezing and rained a fair bit. There isn't a huge amount of variety in these shots, I only took pictures at Knickerbrook and Island today. C&C welcome and encouraged as always.

I'll put the rest up on Flickr tomorrow at some point.

Thanks mate, did you go yesterday? The last three are a bit noisy when you view them large, I was having to use ISO500-ISO640 just to get a shutter speed of 1/160th it was that dark.

A couple more as I've been going through them:

11. Running back to post

The rest from yesterday are up on Flickr now if anyone is interested.

the Starlet one for me

very good set overall

edit, liking the 2 cossies side by side too

nice set
1,5 and 9 for me
after all it is motor racing so nice to see groups of cars after all the trackday one car shot stuff.
Lets hope the rest of the seasons racing is as good but the weather better.

Great set m8, I was Marshalling on Knickerbrook you got some shots of a few car that met a grizzly end, The Starlet broke a wheel bearing and retired at Knicker, The BMW in #8 got wrote off at cascades and the Sierra V8 died at druids along with the Cateram he was in a close battle with

I was stood behind you Alan but I didnt shout as you wouldnt have heard over the cars/PA system and I would have looked a idiot

Anyway, really like the shots from the exit of Island :) Awesome angle. How did oyu get anything from the last race?? THe light was shocking/non-existant

By whacking the ISO up to something like 640, just to get a shutter speed of 1/160th, wide open. It was seriously dark during that race, awful conditions for shooting. If you look at them on my Flickr you can see how noisy they are, but that can't be helped.

Cheers for the comments everyone, glad you all like them :)

:)

I gave up and went home  Seen as my 400D gives huge noise at ISO 400 it wasnt worth it

I went after the Sports/Saloon race, it was bloody freezing and getting dark, and I'm guessing there was a long gap due to Blomfield's accident up at Druids. That's the advantage of a better body, I wouldn't have got anything useable with my old 400D from that race. I'm surprised you haven't put yours up yet.

1000 + shots take a hell of a long time to go through and edit  THey will be up tomorrow (maybe tonight). Was out for most of last night and today so couldnt do anything.

Yeah, hope everything was OK with them two, sounded nasty.

They were fine I heard, but heavy tyre and armco damage, so I gave up at that point and went home. Roll on F3/GT now :D

Depending on the weather (if it's really nice I might be out on my bike) I might head up for the MotoX on the Sunday, it's something I've wanted to see for a while.

New on here and wondering if anyone got any shots of the red fire breathing Sierra’s coming together with the Blue and black Caterham car number 10b or the aftermath please as I look after the Caterham and both drivers were very lucky not to be hurt!!!

Thanks Daz.
