oulton park

hi people i am going oulton park on monday to try and get some nice shots of the bikes,
can anyone give me any pointers on the setting to use please.
i have a canon eos 400d with a sigma 150-500mm lens but have never tried motorsport be four.

A good spot is as they come out of Brittens chicane.
As they get to the top of the slight rise heading for Hill top you an get a good side on view with about 180mm.
A shutter speed of 1/400th will be good enough to stop the action while still maintainig blur in the wheels.

Matts guide is very good and gives you lots of information re the track and shooting places.

With regard to settings

Put the camera into Tv mode and start off with a shutter speed of around 1/400, AF Servo, continuous shooting. Take a few shots and get your eye in, especially with your panning.

Quickly review your shots and look at the wheels - what is the motion blur like, if you want some more motion blur, drop the shutter speed down...

Head on shots you'll need possibly need to up the shutter speed - but just review your shot and see if you're happy with it.
