Hi Guys due to my laziness to label the photos I take straight away I dont know what breed this owl is but I took it when I was on a trip to the Isle Of Wight to a falconry centre there. Unfortunately as you can see i was quite near the post but not the right side of it. :shrug:

Don't think a shot from behind is all that great an idea, Carl and perhaps the use of a wider aperture to render the background clutter more out of focus.
Pity the bird was not facing the camera because it looks pretty sharp.
 
I agree with pretty much everything Dougie has said, the bird looks tac sharp so its a pity it was facing away from you and there's plenty of detail in the bird. As said you also need a larger aperture to render the background out of focus thereby making the bird the sole focal point in the image.
