Panasonic 14-42mm vs 14-45mm

The word seems to be that the latter is better than the former. I know the latter has a metal mount vs plastic mount.
However, in terms of IQ, what is the difference and can anyone provide proof positive of a difference? Any other startling differences?

I only ask because I have seen so many early reviews stating the new lens was actually an improvement.

I don't think there's that much difference, but I did see some comparison pics on dpreview forum somewhere that showed quite a difference wide open, there was some weirdness going on in the 14-42 shot. Can't find the link now sorry.

I've had both, and currently have the 14-45. Although I can't really provide proof I can barely see a difference in IQ.

In build quality, however, the 14-45 feels so much better. The 14-42 zoom ring felt really cheap and nasty in action, it made plastic rubbing on plastic noises when zooming out. The plastic mount wasn't an issue for me though as it felt no different than the metal mount.

I think some reckon the 14-42 is better for video, but as I never do video I wouldn't know.

Build quality aside, I think I paid 100 quid for my 14-42 brand new from a shop and felt it well worth the money.
