Panasonic develops time of flight sensor for perfect autofocus...

I wonder how much light it'll have to kick out to effectively illuminate more distant objects? I also wonder how noticeable to others this tech will be?
 
Also wonder about the battery life, one would think it would use lots of juice.
 
Thought they developed DFD for perfect autofocus, ;)
