Has anyone got one, any recommendations, I'm not looking to do QTVR just nice wideangle stitched panoramas?

You don't say what camera lens combi you are using as weight of your kit can be key. I like the Nodal Ninja product, Panosaurus for lightweight kit, if you're feeling wealthy the Really Right Stuff kit is great and finally check out the Novoflex kit on the Speedgraphic site.
Alternatively, if you're planning on doing landscapes, try with just your standard tripod head setup - i've seen some great results without a panoramic head being used.

Hi Bostin, I'll be using a D3 and am hoping to do some wider angle stuff than the normal tripod head will allow (without distorting too much). I found the Nodal ninja website last night and have also been looking at the manfrotto 303 which seems pretty good. I'll take a look at the others you mention too :thumbs:
 
I have a nodel Ninga 3 which I use with my Canon 5D and works well, for for the Nikon 3D I would look at either the Ninja range or manfroto the panosurus likely to be a bit to small and light. One site that sells this type of equipment worth looking at is Redoor.

Cool cheers, I'm wavering between the nodal and the manfrotto 303, the 303 is in the lead at the mo but that could all change by tomorrow

I would look at the nodal ninja range. The Manfrotto is heavier and cruder but no more sturdy than A NN5.

Depending on the rest of your kit Other heads in the NN range might suit you better.
 
Yep on a plus side the nn5 is very light, VERY sturdy and very portable fits into my trouser pocket when the upper arm is detached and having the rail stops makes it super easy to re-attach knowing your settings are fixed
 
The gitzo doesn't let you set the nodal point of the lens unfortunately
