I have wanted to photograph this for ages as i see it most days sat at the side of the main arterial route into Sheffield City Centre

And since getting my D300 and 50mm lens last week, thought i'd venture out after work last night

Please let me know what you think, mainly looking at the composition

1 and 3 work better imo they have a nice pop and some (slightly creepy) eye contact. Do portrait "rules" apply to humanoid sculptures? Dunno.

I've seen the gloomy bear pics in your other thread, looks like good fun :D.

Thanks for the comments, not too sure what you mean by "portrait rules" though, but as portraiture isn't something i have ever tried i have never really looked into it very deeply

I'm hopefully going to be trying something a little different with this same subject in the near future as it is sited next to a very busy dual carriageway, so might try some silhouette light painting/light trails now the nights are drawing in much quicker

Eyes in focus, looking at the camera or out the shot, camera roughly pointed at the face.

Sounds like it could be a very good area for trying stuff.

Thanks for that Steven, i'll bear that in mind for the future (y)
