PC security certificate problem

Since I changed the battery in the monitor that holds the time & date in place (so to speak), every time I've gone onto a website (IE and FF) a page has come up saying the website doesn't have a security certificate. I'm having to confirm security exceptions for every website I go onto.
I was advised it was something to do with something in the BIOS but it won't let me change anything there because the time is out of sync.

Can anyone advise on what to do?
 
I assume you mean you changed the cmos battery on the motherboard? Resetting the time in Windows should sort out your time problems, though on older motherboards you may need to set the time manually in the bios, normally press Del or F2 after you hear the beep.

It does sound as if you have not reset the BIOS date and time, this can be done by entering the Bios on boot, using a key press often F2, F10 or similer, or can you change the date and time in widows making sure that the year is also correct.
 
Tried all the above and it's still not happy. Very frustrating.
 
Have you definitely replaced the BIOS battery with the correct battery?

Is your system time and date *definitly* set correctly?

Try purging all your temporary internet files.....
 
Back to basics, methinks. You say you changed the battery in the 'monitor'. What type of computer do you have? Describe the shape of the battery? Did you change the battery or did someone do it for you? Did you or they then set the correct time in bios immediately after changing the bat?
 
Normally this problem faced by any one. thats not big issue.
restarte your computer and press del or F2 and open bios setup.
it the bios setup set the date and time and press F10 to save ans exit.
now check that your computer show current date and time.
