OK...one of the first opportunities to go out with my new 40d today so I decided to take a trip back over the Lancashire/Yorkshire border to my home town, well village, and visit Pendle Hill - what was once a 20 minute drive now takes over an hour though!

C&C most welcome - all taken with kit 18-55 lens, bit of PP in lightroom but not much, mostly to brighten them as it was a very misty day!

Something about the last one caught my eye so had a little play. Hope you don't mind. I get bored this time of night ;)

Cheers

) don't mind at all! I've not really got the hang of the whole image processing malarky yet! What did you do and in what though  I'm guessing some form of contrast adjustment and sharpening?

This is my first foray into the world of DSLR after previously using P&S cameras (A70 and S2IS) so I open to as much inspiration as I can get - having looked at some of the pics on the forum I think I have a way to go yet so will continue to post my efforts for C&C :naughty:

I like the tree's :D but the others seem to have way too much sky in them for my liking - be different if the sky was more interesting but its just an expanse of gray. Like the first too - think the DOF works quite well.

mate i'm a total noob - what i've done is what i've learnt over the past few weeks on here and reading stuff about Photoshop on the net.

I still get nervous posting edits cos i don't know if what my edits look like are actually any good.

still it's good practice and in most situations you can at least make a bad image look ok (most of mine start of bad!).

There are plenty of threads on here (do a search) to get you started on the basics! :)

Just a tip - some of them are over the Board limit of 800 pixels for the longest side. Suggest you resize before the Mods break the Image links :)

3 of them have way too much sky/mist and could do with cropping.

Last one for me aswell(y), not keen the others to much grey sky. Nice edit chump

As has been said they could do with some cropping, I hope you don't mind I have had a play with number 4 I think it could be improved with a different camera angle as well but here is what I have come up with.

Quite famous site to a birder, where Dotterel can be found in migration months.

image sizes edited...

thanks for the comments - I agree about the sky having looked at them again, I was attempting to show that 3/4 of the hill was actually shrowded in mist but it hasn't worked

I'll have a bit more of a play with these and maybe post them again.

Good idea - post them in this thread then the improvements will be easier to see.

Have Fun!
