I have bought a lot of stuff over the past few weeks and think I should get them insured.

Dont think the home/house insurance should do.

Has no one got insurance then??

I have read that a lot of people seem to have business insurance, but I havent got a business.
Just a hobby

What do you want to insure them against?

If its theft/damage then talk to your household insurers and see about specifically listing them on your policy or alternatively most folk use Aaduki

http://www.aaduki.com/

They provide all sorts of photographer insurance policies, PLI and kit protection etc.

Its kit protection idealy.

Dont like the idae of adding to my already loaded house insurance.

With my previous hobbies its getting out of hand.

Well, give AAduki a ring then... but I would compare it to your household insurers quote...

house insurance will be cheaper just extend your cover for away from home items

If you already have house insurance and your not using your equipment professional- then its going to be a lot cheaper than getting insurance elsewhere. Not sure what "loaded" house insurance is.

I put my kit on my household insurance recently. It is covered for damage and theft in the house and away (excluding left unattended in a vehicle) from it on a new for old basis, plus public liability cover. It cost £40 per year less than any independent quote I got.

I will see.

I have some expensive hobbies and seem to be adding to my home policy more and more.

I also dont like the idea of the misses knowing how much I have spent over the past few weeks.

Thanks

My house insurance is with Hiscox and while the excess is relatively high (£500) the cover includes all of my valuables (which includes the cameras and glass) at home or when away from home. I just have to ensure that the total value of my contents does not exceed the total insured and that I inform them about any single item worth over 10k.

No pro use allowed, obviously.
