Phoning the UK from Spain

Hi folks.

Quick question.

Off to Spain this week. Don't want to incur roaming charges on the mobile.

Is there any sort of PAYG Sim card I can top up with a tenner or so and get decent value when phoning the UK ?

Looking for something I can pick up easily in Tesco or the likes - has to be PAYG rather than any contract thing.

Failing that, can anyone suggest one of those cards where you dial a number first from a landline ?

Any ideas gratefully received.

get an Orange (or similar) International phone card cost you £5 and you get loads of minutes from your phone - you dial a special number listed on the card and then the UK number, I use them all the time in Nerja

Most networks have a roaming type thing you can pay for, vodaphone+orange certainly do. You pay £5/10 and they give you a certain number of free minutes etc.

Why not check to see how much it will cost on your existing mobile.

I use PAYG and found that it was not a lot more expensive in Spain than in the UK for certain calls (ie within Spain or back to UK 38p per minute, 14p per minute to receive calls and 10p to send a text (receiving text is free). I will mention that I only use the phone when necessary and keep calls for exchanging information rather than chatting though

If you are flying Easyjet they sell sim cards you can use in abroad if your phone is unlocked, I think there is a daily charge though - Page 22
