Hi

I have joined a local photo club. It appears that a large number of the members print there own photos to competition standard.

I have a good Epson all in one printer for general home use which I use compatable inks.

I am thinking of purchasing another photo printer just to print my own pictures. Without breaking the bank can anyone recomend a good printer. All the printers I have purchased have been Epsom but if there are better printers........ I have noticed that a number of printers vary between 4,5 & 6 ink cartridges. Does this make much difference.

Thanks

Ludshott

A serious photo printer like the R2880 is going to cost you quite a lot. If it is just for a few pictures you are much better off going to Tesco or somewhere else.

It depends how much you want to use it, printing your own images can be quite an expensive way for printing your images. Most of the pro's use printers like Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II or Epson Stylus Photo 1400 as 2 examples, but these don't come cheap and are at the bottom of the price range. It depends also how big you want to print the images, unfortunately, larger than A4, you're talking £300 plus with inks and paper and yes the number of individual colour inks does make a significant difference on the prints.

The canon pixima range offers more affordability, but A4 or small image prints, but those all in one prints ain't much cop on print quality...

But personally, its cheaper to get them done at a proper photo lab, just do a search on TP, there are lots of recommendations for places to use.

Hi

I used to have an Epson printer and upgraded to a Canon iP4500 (new one is 4700 I think), not too expensive - under £90 and in my opinion much better than the Epson photo printer I used to have.

The latest one is indeed the IP4700. I've not used one myself but everyone around TP who has seems to think it's hot stuff. You can generally pick them up for about £80 to £90 so they won't bankrupt you. When my current HP gives up the ghost, I'll be looking seriously at it.

I have the Ip 4600 which cost less than £100 and am very pleased with it's performance.

Epson scan printer combo, fill your own cartridges. Have about 500 A4 papers to use. Aint life grand.

You need to define what "breaking the bank" amounts to.

I have the HP B9180GP, prints to A3+ but is not cheap.

Quality is superb though

Oh and Welcome to TP:)

i also have the canon pixma ip4500 and cound'nt rate it enough for the price at under £100, great colours great performance.........
