Yes
Are there any good photography courses that are cheap/free? or maybe discounted for people on means tested Benefits?

Been trying to find one for ages, but all I've been able to find is A level, but thats over two years and I don't think I can do it as I'm over 19.

There's also city and guilds but the college that holds it didn't get back to me.

There's a few short courses in my area, costing around £100 but they're all a bit basic, like "using your digital camera" "cropping and printing" etc.

Now I'm by no means an expert, hence wanting to take a course, I want something more intermediate for DSLR, like understanding metering, aperture etc.

I want someone that's knowlegable to be able to show me where I'm going wrong, and I don't want to be pushed into having to do darkroom and film/35mm photography because it just doesn't interest me and I can't afford to be buying new kit for the course.

EDIT

This is one of the course's that I've seen that I like, its 10 weeks and £110, but at one day a week for four hours, thats only 40 hours.
Is it worth it?

About the course
Students will be developing their creativity with the medium while learning the practical and technical skills necessary to achieve high quality results.

What and how do you learn?
We will be looking at how great photographs are made by reference to the work of outstanding practitioners, and looking at the practical, artistic and technical issues involved. There will be a strong emphasis on actually going out and taking photographs, both in your own time for practical assignments and with some teaching sessions on location.

Learn about camera controls and composition. Use Photoshop® to crop, adjust colour & clean up photos.

Students are advised to bring their own digital camera, fully charged with connecting cables & manuals. Photograph prints charged at cost

About the tutor(s)

Just heard back from the college, they no longer offer help/reductions for people on low/no income because the government have pulled their funding for all creative courses.:bang::bang:

Try the practical photography bootcamp. Starts next week and it's free. Runs over 6 months has modules and homework. Lots of people on TP have signed up for it
