Newbie question follows:
I am browsing pixmania and really want to get my first Camera. I have checked Camera Price buster site and Pixmania is coming up as cheapest. Has anyone got the Zen engagement from them ans is it worth getting? if paying with a credit card I would get extra warranty anyway so is this needed?

2nd question is altho i have shopped around i keep coming back to the canon EOS 600d. I have a lot of photog friends and they mostly use this model. However having read a few post about SLR hut which is where i was hoping to get mine from I am now really glad that i came here first! My budget is £450 and looking around even on pixmania that takes it out of my budget. So now could anyone please recommend an alternative plz? I mainly will be specialising in portrait of kids in a studio setting and lifestyle types shoots.

Any help and advice will be most appreciated. Thank you

Naz

I think you're going to struggle getting a new 600D kit in your budget. The cheapest place I usually buy from is Hdew cameras and they have a new 600D body only for £455. They do however have a 550D kit http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/canon-eos-550d-camera--18-55mm-lens-492-p.asp that is within your budget and is an excellent camera to start with and has almost the same features as the 600D apart from the flip out screen.

Thx Modchild. I am still browsing the forum here and have just come across DigitalRev who have the Canon Kiss X5 (EOS 600D / Rebel T3i) with 18-55mm kit for £465. From reading up here DigitalRev is a good site to get from?

Just wanted to come back here. I have done more reading up. I am not sure why I am not very keen on the kissx5 after reading the reviews. Apparently the re selling value is quite low if i wished to upgrade in the future it might be a problem? Also if it needed repair would it be a problem to send it back to canon if it's within the 1year warranty?

I am torn between the 5100 and the X5. Reason i am moving towards the 5100 it because it's the genuine one and not the imported version.

Now to put a spanner in the works i am also reading up on the 550d. What is the different between the 550d and the 600d?

I am so sorry for all the silly questions, hopefully someone can help plz?

As far as I am aware, 600D gains flippy screen and wireless flash triggering and I think that's about it.

Thx very much. The next question is having a wireless trigger a good thing? How would I use this? The flip screen is cool but not a must I suppose. Thx again!

Naz.

Just been to a jessops currys and comet. Apart from being able to see them I did not like the price :(. I do know now how the wireless trigger work and I think if I was doing portraits in a studio setting this *** be valuable. However it might no be something I will get straightaway as iv been told the flash guns go for £200+.
Thx for the help. Really appreciate it.
Naz.
