Hi People
I have a Canon G11 and would like to use the video to make some basic YouTube videos

Obviously need video , and sound
Do I need a Monitor to view as I am recording and can I have a microphone atached to me or do I rely on the built in camera one

If I am successful I would like to be able to add more cameras in different positions and I assume I would then need some sort of switching unit

I have not done any video before and admit I am a numpty , I know what I want in my head but not in practical terms

HELP :giggle:

Provided you set your focus to auto or preset it manually you won't need a monitor.

You could attach a cheap (or expensive) LAV mic to your shirt if you wish (amazon £15) Boya. On board sound with most cameras is not brilliant, so i would advise getting an external mic.

If you don't want a lav mic, you could get a shotgun mic to sit on top of your camera or a light stand. Diety D3 or a Rode mini would do it.

Multi cam is done in editing. you have two or more cameras rolling at the same time, clap your hands at the start of each take and it will help sync everything up.

Don't know about your camera, however if it records video to an SD card then maybe I can help.

If not posting straight to youtube I use Adobe Premier Elements 2020 which is a video editing suite cost around £90 for the disk which I would recommend. far too much on it to go into here and possibly help seeing videos on how to use it on youtube . so I put the video on the computer monitor and then select it in Adobe Premier Elements 2020 to down load onto

As for sound a big question ? do you want a directional mike or a surround sound mike, How good is the one on your camera anyway? there are literally hundreds of different mikes out there. Does your camera allow for an extrnl mike to be plugged in,as I say I don't know your camera specifications.
I use a Sennheiser MKE400 with a Gutmamm deadcat to kill wind noise rumble
I actually did a video on this very issue. I set up the mike infront of a desk fan and you can see what difference it made when you see the whole video

I have only touched and still a lot to learn but maybe this is some help

Not exactly cheap but you pay for quality

I use a Rode VideoMic which feeds into the mic socket on my Canon 7D, not sure if your camera has a mic input, but as already said an external mic will give better audio, and also good audio is essential far more so than shaky footage.

Multi camera options would be assembled in video editing software, there are some freebies out there. I use Serif MoviePlus6, sadly now discontinued. You can see a multicamera approach in this video, albeit just shot with a single camera, just edited to give a multi camera feel.

Those clips must have taken a very long time to get, let alone splicing in with the editing suite
