Hello all :) am hoping to find a way to use my Metz totally off camera, i love the idea of a Pocket Wizard but my metz doesnt have a traditional sync lead socket, its like this

so can i use a pocket wizard with it? or is there some other thing i can get that does the same thing, i could use the Metz as a slave and have another flash on the camera which might work but i would prefer not to.

Any suggestions

Forget the Metz, go with a SB800 (just as powerful as the SB900, not quite as good as the SB900 in terms of options) then use the pop up as master, make use of CLS. You are restricted to Manual I believe with the Metz:thumbs:

I believe there is new pocket wizard model coming for the Nikon soon:thumbs:
 
i am certainly not 'forgetting the metz' its my baby i love my Metz :)

was thinking about getting a new onboard flash at some point but would really like to be able to use the metz off camera
 
am a bit confused, if i connect that cable for the flash onto my metz, i cannot connect my control until for it to the metz... which means i cant control the flash at all it would just be one strength? that sounds a bit crazy!

hotshoe to pc adaptor then just a pc cord methinks
adaptor should be a few quid, make sure its one with a female hotshoe aswell

I know they exist cos photosoc has one, which I would send you but I think I'd get shouted at for misappropriating kit

but its awfully confusing and i am not sure about having to use an onboard flash to fire the Metz, that seems like a waste of camera battery and will make it harder to control the light...

That hotshoe to Mini jack is fab though... maybe my pocket wizard dream will come true after all!
 
No problem,

the metz make a great off camera flash unit as they are so powerful.

Might wanna take advantage of that extra power and look at picking up a big softbox to go with the metz
