Hey all
I started doing a couple of fashion shoots(in exchange for make-up training). I want to build a portfolio. I've been quoted 15 pounds for an A4 print, seems a bit high to me. How much do you think each print should cost me? I looked at a site online and it said 6 pounds for 10 A4 prints delivered on either matt or glossy. But I'm guessing that paper may be not good enough quality...

So what exactly should I look for in regards to getting prints? Is there any specific sites or products you'd recommend? Maybe a site where I can send a CD of pics and they print it out?

Thanks a bunch :)

Hi Sherry123,

I use togsprint, and their price for an A4 is £2.40 here I used 8x12 as the size guide as its closest to A4. I have found Lee to be very with the printing - if something looks a bit odd he will talk to you before he goes ahead, and he has taught me a hell of a lot as well

Oh, and welcome to the forum as well :D

£2.blinking40? christ almighty - We use our own photoprinter + CISS system and 260GSM paper, costs us roughly 20p per A4 print that way and the quality is equal to that of any printing place.

Alot of people think that sending them to a printers is cheaper, but if you set it up yourself and buy everything in bulk... believe me its a hell of alot cheaper.

Of course if this is just a one off thing itd be cheaper in the short term to send it to someone like Lee, but if your going to be printing alot (we print about 20-50 shots a day) then its cheaper in the long term to just do it yourself.

Regards, James

If you are doing more than the odd one or two then Lee does do discounts, but for me its well worth the price for the quality of the prints as I could not match that at home, and as you said, you buying in bulk and printing 20-50 shots a day which is something I would be dreaming about!!

You can only really keep control of colours etc if you do your own. Buy a £90 Canon and have play. Get paper from Venex and you should be running at about a £1 a print.
