Posting/sending a tripod, how best?

I'll be putting up a Manfrotto tripod in a bag shortly but I'm unsure about how best to send it.
Also where can I get plastic wrapping sheets to protect it in transit?

bubble wrap or newspaper in a box if possible and send it insured also offer it up for local collection if you get that then dint have to worry about sending it

I sold one on here recently,

wrapped tripod in bubblewrap then put in case then wrap in corrugated cardboard and finally placed in a large poly bag and taped up with that brown sellotape stuff

It was £8.80 via Royal Mail

A box would be ideal but I don't have one that shape. It's the thin plastic sheeting that's bothering me.

Good idea, where can I get a large poly bag? Maybe a garden refuse sack properly taped would do.

I would wrap the tripod in bubble wrap to protect the legs and head from impact damage and send it in a box rather than a bag. Not only will a box provide better protection but you will be able to demonstrate careless handling/damage in transit easier should it arrive damaged. Yeah, I know it shouldn't happen but it does. Most tripods are too long for Royal Mail but any of the national parcel carriers should be fine - I always use Parcel Force but no matter which one you go for somebody will tell you a horror story! Make sure the carrier's insurance covers the value adequately and use a signed for service.

Bubble wrap can be bought in almost any office supplies shop (e.g. Staples) or from places like The Range and HobbyCraft. You might even pop into your local high street stores and see if they have any they're about to throw out.

I think a combination of all the above would work but in the absence of a proper box then the cardboard wrap sounds good

wrap bits of cardboard round the top and bottom to make some bumper protection

Not sure how big your tripod is, but I've sent odd shaped things like that wrapped up in cardboard tubes - my local carpet shop is glad to see the back of them! Some are plastic which make the parcel even lighter,
