I would like to upload a PowerPoint presentation to my website but I would also like it to work for people who don’t have PowerPoint installed.

I know you can package it and create a cd, could I just copy the files from the cd to my website.

Would this work, or will the browser block the additional files required.

Is there another way of doing this?

Thanks
Julian

I have just picked up my "bible" on Powerpoint thinking this will be easy to answer but it doesn't mention web presentations, I am pretty sure it's run in kiosk mode and you save it as a packaged PPT but I am not an expert. I will go and have another look but no doubt someone with day to day expertise will be along before I even work out what it's called LOL

can you not just export the slides as JPG and run a standard slideshow script?

i cant think of any way to upload a PPT file to a website and get it to play embedded without powerpoint installed?

i never knew you could save as a web page.. good shout

Thank you!
Powerpoint is an awesome piece of software, most people only scratch the surface with it. Not that I am an expert just seen some amazing stuff over many years.:)

its handy but by no means is it the most efficient i think, emailing a 10mb PPT that could easily be a <2mb PDF etc (can you tell thats a bugbare at work clogging up our email lol)

If they are emailing it in house they should be trained to put it on the network and point to it, saves on storage too, however most people don't do that. You can zip PPT files for emailing which makes them smaller and faster.

I've re-done a couple of sites that originally put up powerpoint as their web site. Microsoft writes the most appalling html code. A single line of text on a web page creates over 200 lines of unnecessary code in Word. So just watch out!

You need a bigger stick

indeed (i do actually have a large stick under my desk lol), but while they have the ability to send up to 15mb emails theyll get away with it. personally i dont see why they cant use the network internally and FTP externally but thats not my call to make.
