Hi, I am looking to do a portrait session and it would be good to be able to show the pictures immediately after they are taken on a laptop.

I have Nikon D90/D60 and photoshop CS4 and Lightroom. Is there anyway this can be achieved so that as the picture is taken it is shown immediately?

specific software and wireless needed, i'm sure.

seen it done at the focus show ay the nec'

can you not just take a series of shots, whip out the card, then transfer images from card to laptop.

or install cam software, then plug cam into laptop and transfer that way?

not sure but i think lightroom 3 beta 2 has tethered shooting not tried it but might be worth a try

Nikon surely does something like that? Canon supplies software that if the camera is connected via usb, will do just that, I think with Nikon you have to pay for it though?

diyphotobits.com also do a free tether software that works with nikon cameras.

If you want wireless, look into an eye fi card, pretty neat :)

Your D90 is compatible with Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 and should work via a wired connection (or wireless). You can even save directly to the PC without using a memory card.

I don't know about Nikon but with Canon you get a utilities package on the disc which enables you to be able to shoot tethered. I'd be very suprised if Nikon didn't have a similar thing.

Yes Nikon doesn't come with tether software they expect you to pay extra but there is variour Freeware out there for it.

Dave I would be wary of shooting tethered in a portrait session. Mainly becasue once the client realises the pics are there right away they might start bugging to look at each one as you take it. Pain in the arse. You're better to take the laptop and move the memory card to that when you're finished shooting.
