Printing problems from a DVD in shop

got a quick question regarding printing problems. I have a DVD with 3gig of data and 200 photo's. The photo's are split over 2 folders and there is a .txt file on the disc too.

The machines at my local Max Spielman take a long time to load even 1 photo. We're talking minutes. Even behind the counter they have trouble finding any files.

The photo's are jpg files.
Max file size is 15mb.
Photo's taken with a Canon 7d.

Can anyone recommen what I can do to get them printed? I thought that maybe the equipment they are using is just too slow.

Maybe I'm missing something?

thanks!

15mb or thereabouts will choke all the print booths, like Tesco etc. They're probably powered by Atari inside. If you're printing say 6x4 then you don't need 15mb files. I reduce mine down to around 2 to 3 mb and they come out perfect. For 12x8 then I reduce them to 3 to 5 mb. I don't know if less will still do, but I upload these sizes for online printing and I have no complaints. The 6x4 sizes at 2 to 3mb load reasonably quick in Tesco photo machines.

Transfer the files you want onto a memory stick and go to the shop with that.

I was thinking of just transferring only the pics that need to be printed onto a new disc (haven't got a memory disc) so I will try that. Yeah I thought that maybe the size of the pics may be too much for the machines. Typical!

i do as well...with redoing at 300dpi they usually are 2Mb...

15Mb is a bit collossal to put on a stick though?

Resize to the print size you need. If small images 300ppi would be the perfect resolution. Save as jpg quality 10 or thereabouts. that will reduce the file size and increase speed drastically.

You could take a memory card with the images on and a USB card reader/writer. I used to use a cheap MP3 player. 300dpi is fine - Loxley resize to 256dpi.

You should send your files as 300ppi its not called dpi). Loxley may print at 256dpi (you don't need to resize an image to print at a specific dpi). There's a difference
