No
I went out treking through field and started snapping cows, it was evening lighting but light enough to happly take snaps without flash and tripod...well not tonight! The photos all came out really dark and all i could do is reduce the shutter speed and fiddle around with the aperature and that blured the photo, i tryed messing with the white balance and the flash is useless and looks prety naff shooting cows in a field, i tryed all my lenses and still the same problem.

Any suggestions on what i could do?

Up the ISO?

I don't know what the max is but Confucius say ''better with noise than what you have now!'' :D

Go out earlier?

Were you in manual mode or Aperture shutter or P?

I notice in your camera bag that the widest apperture lens you have is F3.5 at 18mm.

Which lens and what zoom were you using?

Can you post 1 up with the exif intact for us to look at?

Oh and at what time was this?

Maybe try a tripod? Photos will blur if you don't keep the camera still for the full length of the exposure.

its the light

i had my f4 Nikon zoom at 3pm in the woods the other day and had to set iso to 3200 to get even a moderate speed when it went overcast

even this evening with late sun in the open i used ISO 3200 trying to catch birds

that's why we love England so.........

you could say that the D700 was made with the UK in mind...

I can't tell you how often I've ended up at ISO 1600 just walking around chester zoo - in order to keep the animals from blurring out entirely, even at f/4. It just takes a cloudy, overcast day, and the available light just disappears.
