Problem with studio flash trigger - anything to check ?

Hi,

Just testing some cheap lights i've acquired but struggling to get the radio trigger to work. There's not a great deal to it, put on same channel and switch on. The led's both light up when the shutter button is pressed yet the light doesn't fire. I've tried new batteries and a different light.

Anything else to try here ? - the cable seems well seated in the sync port. Happy to buy another if it is faulty but don't want the same issue to be there. Transmitter and receiver are communication so seems the issue could be with the sync cable ?

Is there a test button on the transmitter? if so remove the transmitter from your camera and try it to see if the light fires, if it does then the transmitter isn't compatible with your camera so you may need to buy some different triggers.
 
Check with new batteries, if they're still faulty buy new triggers. Yongnuo RF 603

I presumed that black button above the screw is the test button - pressing it lights up the receiver but the light doesn't trigger.

If pressing the test button lights up the receiver, it is probably the cable at fault, I would get the cable for the 603's and use them.
