Can anyone help me here - I use SyncToy to back up my laptop to an external hard drive, but I've found that it doesnt cope too well with copying folder changes made on the laptop over to the external drive....
for example, I have 3 folders
Folder A
Folder B
Folder C
and set it to back them up, which it does.....
then if I decide I want to rename my folders so that they appear in explorer in sequence order, I change them to
01 Folder A
02 Folder B
03 Folder C
and re-run the backups..... yet SyncToy's version of the root folder has
01 Folder A
02 Folder B
03 Folder C
Folder A
Folder B
Folder C
(the latter 3 are empty and have nothing in them)
I've tried this on synchronise and echo mode but I'm getting the same results on each - all I want is essentially a mirror of my current laptop drive taking across to the external each time I run the backup
The description of echo and synchronise are:
Synchronize: New and updated files are copied both ways. Renames and deletes on either side are repeated on the other.
Echo: New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames and deletes on the left are repeated on the right.
anyone help? or recommend another free and simple to use backup utility for XP
