PSE7 First time opening of NEF files

Hi
I have upgraded to PSE7 and use a Nikon D300.
I use Nikon Transfer to download my images.

PROBLEM:
If I try to open an NEF files for the first time in PSE7 (File>Open) PSE7 Hangs.

WORKAROUND:
I have set windows to use PSE7 to Open NEF files.
When I open the files in Windows Explorer PSE7 Starts up and Opens the files correctly in Camera RAW 4.5.

After going through this process a small .xmp (tag) file is created.
I can then open the files in PSE7 using File>Open.

Any advice would be appriciated.

I have PSE7 and sometimes use my old Nikon D70.

PSE7 opens the NEF files without a problem.

I read last night that there can be a problem if your Nikon is newer than PSE. The solution offered was to download the latest update for PSE7.

Don't know if that will work, but it's what I read.
