quandry, where to commit capital

OK I'm returning to the folds of photography and therefore building my bag of goodies back up from scratch.

Now the problem I'm facing is the following

Just where do I spend my available capital at this moment in time?

I'm focusing on small commercial stuff and private commisions (both of which I'm luckily have initial running projects for) from the get go I hasten to add that this is a complimentary (sp?) business from my well established web design business that I have run for nearly 10 years.

I need an off camera flash setup and I need some quality glass, but which one?

I know I can hire any lens I need for a particular shoot and place that cost against the job so nothing really lost there but does that make sense?

I think I already know the answer anyway but I'm intersted in other togs take on this.

So cheers for any feedback.

depends what commercial stuff you're shooting surely? the 24-105 f4 is quite popular as an all rounder as is the 24-70 2.8 but then if you're doing architecture or cars or necklaces etc etc they're probably not as useful

Yeah point taken not enough info. The commercial stuff is mainly candid and portraits. Funnily enough my choice of lens is the 24-105 f4 anything else can be hired I suppose?!

Just interested in opinion
