Hello.

I'm just curous, with the gallerys you can make with iWeb are you able to upload it to any webhost and the gallerys actually work?

I installed OSX onto my laptop a few months ago to make the website. but the gallery dosent work at all on the internet my webhost is free but when i click on the html file (from directory on my computer) it's just a blank page. Without anything showing.. it's rather annoying.

Or do i have to take out one of apples stupidly expensive mobileme thing?

Thanks

JDP.

I'm certain that there are members who are considerably more educated on the subject than me but here goes anyway:

I used to use iweb to create myself a website, I went the whole hog and bought the mac mail (mobileme) account too.

Generally I found the web creation easy but very restrictive, it seems there are still compatibility issues with browsers and the displaying of the galleries.

I still use the mobile me account, it does have some cool features if you use OSX heavily.

any host http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/

you clicked the html file on your computer? to see if it worked?

Hi Ian.
I did try on one host which didn't work which is why i asked. But i'll have another go.

yeah i double clicked on the 'photography.html' file which is where the gallery was placed and that didn't work. It was just a blank page with my menu up at the top.

Yeah, it's restrictive! Oh i didn't know there were browser issues. So is it really worth spending about £50 on it a year?

As others have said any host. As for the galleries, the way I am doing it is editing the html to put in simpleviewer galleries, which is surprisingly simple really.

Check this link to see how to do it

http://www.rowan-cottage.co.uk/Site/SimpleViewer.html

Works really well for me

Yeah i have tried simpleviewer but i have trouble trying to embed it though, but ill try again.

But everyone thanks for the help its greatly appreciated...

What should be on the page? Do you have all the items in the same folder? And have you coded the html correctly to link to the content?

just one simple gallery, yeah everything is in the folder iWeb made.. and i didn't think i would have to do any coding as i thought iWeb did it all..

have you tried the galleries in Lightroom?

They are dead easy to use and you can publish it right to your site by clicking a button. If its basic you want and fully functional then I recommend it.

i havn't tried those gallerys but i will have a look!! (:. I'll have a look at it.. i even have it on my computer.. ill give it a go!

thanks :)

Hi JDP, I use iWeb for my website building but use a Jalbum gallery to host the photos - tested on the top 3 browsers on different OS's and works fine.

When you're publishing your site from iWeb, are you making sure your settings are correct? For example, if publishing via FTP that the settings from your host are entered correctly in the 'Site Publishing Setting' page of your site (each of your websites in the left hand column has their own settings page).

ohh i think so, i'm going to have another go. i dont have the internet on the mac. But when i have it all sorted i will have another go at publishing again. So the gallery in iWeb isnt actually that good then?

thanks again, and thanks for the help all. It's been very very helpful
