question on manual exposure

hey people i have a canon 600d with a 430ex flash, and have realised that when i take a picture in manual mode with the flash the white balance corrects it self comapred to using it in auto mode, is this natural?

I'm presuming that you mean exposure, rather than white balance.

The flash will produce what it judges to be a perfect exposure if you use it in ettl mode. The exposure showing on the camera meter is the exposure for the ambient light. The flash will attempt to give an acceptable exposure based on ISO and aperture.
