questions re: lee filter holder / hitech filters

hi all, i'm about to get a lee filter holder and a hitech 10 stop pro filter (and some soft grads). I have the 77mm wide angle adaptor. I just have a couple of questions:

- can i configure the holder to have 3 filter rails and still avoid vignetting on my 16-35 @ 16mm with the pro stopper on?

Would i minimise the chance of vignetting by using less holder rails?

Also, this is probably a dumb question, but which way should the foam 1.5mm gasket thing that comes on the pro stopper be facing? Towards or away from the lens?

1. No I dont think so, I think youll still get a little vignetting at 16mm. I use two rails and get vignetting at 16/17mm but only have a standard 77mm adapter not the wide one.

2. the gasket should be pressing against the holder to stop light leaking into the lens, so facing towards the body.
