Quick comparison - Leica M 240 v Sony RX1 inc full rec pics

I enjoyed that, thanks :D

There's been a lot of internet talk of the RX1 being expensive but considering that you get a nice lens with it I think the price compares very well to a DSLR plus similar nice lens... and very very well to every other pocketable FF digital camera with AF and a fixed lens :D

Spot on. "Expensive compared to what?" is my usual retort to that. It really is a super camera, but if I had £15k spare I'd be down in Mayfair again...

The Leica does look quite a bit warmer. The RX1 holds its own though, it's what the Leica X1 or X2 should have been like. Bokeh on a 35 I've never been a fan of, not really a focal length I would associate it with. From the testing I've seen the Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron ASPH looks to be absolutely exceptional. Sharper @ f/2 than other 50s @ f/5.6 is what I've read. I'd stuck that on a Type 240 any day.

Yeah - it's a lot of money. Definitely a "lifestyle camera" these days I think. Bit like a luxury car - you don't need one but you'd really like one.
