Quick trip round the lake today

Took a walk to the lake again this morning. I've managed to give my back a bit of a tweek so took the tripod so I wouldn't have to hold the weight of the lens at all, glad I did as the light wasn't great but not too bad today. All taken with the D3+Sigma 300/2.8 and 1.4tc

This Heron was sat there quite happy, these are cropped probably 50% or so before resizing, wish I had a nice 500 or 600mm :frown:

Thought the detail in this was pretty good as it's mostly black

herons always look as if they're built wrong
legs not strong enough to hold up body!

I know what you mean about Herons looking odd Mike. When they're sat with their feathers puffed up they look far too big for the spindly legs.
