Recent Walkabout on Southbank with Contax G2

Glad you've got over the scanning difficulties. The colour on these has come out well and exposure on the highlights is good

Thanks Peter. Strangely the problems disappeared when I moved over to using Silverfast on the mac. The results were much sharper and colours much better. Odd but perhaps something to do with the way its programmed. I was actually very happy with most of these piccies. The G2 seems to expose very well indeed and the quality of the lenses allows for a lot of detail to be captured in the photographs.

The G2 really looks like a lovely camera. If I was in the market for a more modern rangefinder I think it would be high on my list. Lovely blue light in these and the 200 has just enough grain to give some texture at these resolutions.

Thanks. I was actually slightly surprised by the amount of visible grain. Then again its not a top notch slide film and the bargain price that it cost I can't complain.

I would highly recommend the G2 to anyone. I think I would only really swap it for an M6 or 7 with some zeiss lenses. My budget doesn't allow for that!

Very nice series, particularly like the 1st one.

Only just seen this thread - very nice set #1 would be my fave. :)

Thanks! And there was me in a leica specialist second hand camera shop looking to trade in! ;)

I keep forgetting what a quality camera the G2 is. Apart from the problems I had using it for street photography (focusing functionality didn't gel with me) I will always regret selling mine... the glass on this camera makes shots rival a MF camera in terms of detail, not to mention tonality when using B&W

I see another G2 setup in my future for sure.

You can always buy mine so I can get an M6... ;)

It is a superb camera and the lenses are truly superb. I have not tried street shooting with mine really, I am not brave enough to take photos of random strangers!
