Recharging battery

I have the nikon D3100. When the battery gets to one bar the camera will not allow me to take anymore pictures. Is there a way I can change this or is it standard. Just seems not getting full use of battery

There's no way you can know at what point in the discharge cycle the battery level indicator drops to one bar. I suspect that it happens when the battery is in quite a low state of charge, and using the camera after that would risk the images being corrupted.

I suggest that you get a spare battery and stop bothering about it.

I would think this is to protect the battery, if Li-on type batteries are fully discharged they won't take a charge, don't know why someone on here may.

Mr Bizzare is pretty well right, but there is a bit more to it. Some Lithium batteries can become unstable and catch fire if they are discharged too much.

Different types of battery have different minimun levels but few like being completely discharged. Agree with roseway on this - get a spare and change when necessary.
