Hi all,
A few months back, I asked what the best photo printer was for around £50. Someone pointed me in the direction of the Epson R240, which worked a treat for the person I bought it for.

I now want one myself - is the Epson still a good one to go for, or is there something better on the scene? I want:

- Good quality photo prints
- Print borderless at A4
- Able to get cheap compatible inks (the R240 ones are about £3 each I think)
- Print onto CD's if possible

I'm not bothered about Pictbridge etc - just want nice prints from my PC. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Matt

I have an R300 and will possibly upgrade my printer this year. Based on performance (and quality) on the R300 I'm going to stick with the Epson brand.

I'm not sure the R240 will allow you to print to CD, but I'm certain it will tick all the other boxes you've mentioned.

The R240 is a good printer for the money.

But...

- Good quality photo prints

- Able to get cheap compatible inks (the R240 ones are about £3 each I think)

These two specs are at odds with each other. Using cheap ink will almost certainly give you cheap looking results.
