Took these at an old dis-used service garage in essex last night. Didn't do as many angles or focal lengths as I wanted but I'm fairly happy with these.

They are all made from several images with the flashguns moved around as I've only got 2.

C&C please (y)

Liking #1 - the reds are blown in a couple of places but the comp works well, you've used the wall to good effect so much so I'd like to have seen more of this kind of voyeur shot in the rest of the set. Maybe you could burn some of the upper areas - window frames etc - to lessen their impact on the shot and make it more about the car. Either that or tone down the saturation on the building.

Only other one that inspires me at all is #7 - striking comp although the reds are done again in places and in abstract from the rest of the set there's nothing to identify the car. Good stance for a wheel promo shot.

Thanks for the critique.

Really appreciate it.

I apologise to anyone that can't view the pics but they have been changed to clickable links by the powers that be due to the rules on here.

I'm not resizing images specifically for 1 forum whereas everywhere else has no problems with 1024pixel sized images.

Here's a direct link to my flickr for them http://www.flickr.com/photos/darrenthorndick/

I like the visible image, seems a good all round image but I don't like the way the signage is cut in two at the top of the frame.

For the links:
1: 95% there in my opinion. Could probably have done with a polarizer for the windscreen reflection and the bricks at the bottom and right add nothing to the picture and distract from it overall. Lighting on the car looks pretty even though.

2: Does nothing for me I'm afraid, perhaps a little too much light on the background. Might be able to burn it in a bit.

3: Not a bad composition but the lighting on the side of the car is too uneven. It's also a very central composition. Perhaps keeping the garage central but moving the car to one side would have helped. Imagine leaving a bit of space to one side for some editorial if it was going in a magazine.

4: Like three only quite a lot better. It's still very central but the WA has made for a more dynamic composition. 99%. Problem is I can see your lightstand on the right hand side by the bonnet prop.

5: It's an engine. Does nothing for me as a photo I'm afraid. I think the brightness of the engine and bodywork against the background is jarring me a little. Perhaps tone down the brightness so the lighting ratios are a bit closer together:shrug:

6: It's a big wheel. Not my cup of char either.

Don't get your knickers in a twist over the lack of comments. I've been on here daily for over week and it's the first time I've seen it in the new threads search. Besides, you know what people are like around here, nobody wants to click links.

True, but only the half of it IMO, seems to be that folk don't want to comment on anything resembling an actual car shoot. Sometimes you get a few "nice shot" comments but useful crit is infrequent.

Thats the kind of C&C I'm after. Really appreciate that.

I have noticed that in my abscence from the board, it seems its turned into more like snapshot sharing rather than a place to improve photographic skills.
